about

My work explores environment and landscape abstraction with vivid color and energy. Using both acrylics and mixed media, then applying straightforward brushstrokes and shapes, allows active application of the materials to gain immediate results.

Growing up in New England has greatly influenced my selection of color and form. The light, seashore, mountains and extreme seasonal shifts all notably contribute to the work.

The most recent work focuses mostly on abstract acrylic paintings. The desire is to increase the size and scope of each painting. This will help present more immersive experiences for the viewer.

Influences include Carmen Herrera, Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Georgia O’Keefe, Jennie C. Jones, Helen Frankenthaler, Alma Thomas, Yayoi Kusama, Charlotte Park, Cy Twombley, Etel Adnan, Claude Monet and Edwina Leapman.
